Ionus PCD Ion Chromatograph

Ionus PCD Ion Chromatograph

The **IONUS Post Column Derivatization (PCD)** system is designed for applications where conductivity detection produces very small peaks and therefore offers limited sensitivity, or where optical detection can provide significantly higher sensitivity. By using post-column derivatization followed by optical detection, the system can reduce detection limits by several orders of magnitude, achieving levels below **1 ppb for bromate**, for example.

Unlike the standard IONUS system, the **IONUS PCD** does not feature an integrated conductivity detector. Instead, it uses a post-column reactor for derivatization followed by a highly sensitive single-wavelength photometer. The required wavelength can be selected according to the specific color reaction used and can be easily changed by the user. For example, bromate determination according to **EPA 317 and EPA 326** uses wavelengths of **440 nm and 355 nm**, respectively, while **Chromium (III) and Chromium (VI)** detection can be performed at **340 nm or 530 nm**. The IONUS PCD is also compatible with ion chromatography columns from all manufacturers and supports all commonly used eluents for both anion and cation chromatography.
